Suzanne Renaud to music by Ondřej Škoch

It is the flax-coloured country… Suzanne Renaud’s poem was set to music composed by Ondřej Škoch, performed by the Quartetto Ristretto of the Piccola Orchestra, at a Christmas concert in Prague on 16 December 2016. The song is called Veronika, like the Biblical figure, and set in the land of Suzanne Renaud and Bohuslav Reynek:

“At dusk, the forest lifts its dazzling brow,
Veronica wiping the face of silence
